This is my personal blog/journal experience for my JASC (Japan America Student Conference) experience.
When I arrived in the Seattle-Tacoma airport yesterday at 12:15 pm, I was instantly hit with a feeling of gratitude. I am extremely honored to be here and supported by all of the people who have helped me thus far in life- parents, teachers, friends, colleagues. I know that I am privileged to have this experience and to be able to travel on a scholarship. In these economic times, how many people have the luxury of traveling abroad? How many have the opportunity to deeply engage in cultural exchange with people of different ethnic, racial, and social backgrounds? My travel this summer would not have been possible for me if it wasn't for all of the people that guided me, directly and indirectly. We have all worked together to open this opportunity. I have stood on the backs of my supporters and ancestors, so that in a way, I can experience Japan for all of us. I am writing this blog from my duty to all of you. Since you cannot come with me, this blog is my way of sharing it with you. Every diary entry is to be my "thank you" note to you all, filled with my sincerest affections. I want you all to see, smell, and hear Japan through my eyes in such a clarity that you feel you are there. I want you to read this blog and feel like you have been enlightened in some way. But most importantly, I want you to see the good things your charity and compassion have brought upon my life.
